Chinese Ming Dynasty Jiajing Famille Rose Carp Porcelain Jar. Potted with a cylindrical straight vessel, short neck, flaring round mouth lip, raised on ring foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against famille rose design color, depicted of many carp swims through water plants, coral and sea grass. The Carp Similar sounding to the word Business in Chinese, the carp symbolizes a wish for benefit or advantage in business, and accepted to represent longevity, wealth, abundance, and perseverance. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within blue ring lines. Made in The Years Jiajing Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
