Bizen pottery vase with mark of important Japanese potter Kaneshige Toyo, (Intangible Culteral Property 1954; Living National Treasure 1956,) credited with reviving the lost Momoyama period Bizen pottery techniques and effects. The columnar vase narrows slightly upwards towards the waist and then swells dramatically at the top. Applied flattened ring handles. Signed at base. Approx. 9 1/2" H. Provenance: Estate of Cayce Odom of Charlottesville, VA.
