Description
One on wove paper showing a man with a dog and a woman with a baby fleeing in the face of a tempest, a man behind them with a rearing horse, with blowing trees, turbulent clouds, and a castle cross a lake in the distance. Signed 'David' and something illegible. (Approx. 9" x 7 1/4") Attributed by the original owner to Jacques Louis David. The second painting on laid paper, signed H. R. and dated 1782, showing a scene of figures at the side of a lake, all busy; with laundry, filling a copper pot, playing with a dog, etc, with a coach and castles in the distance. (Approx. 9 1/2" x 7".) This painting attributed to Hubert Robert by the original owner. The third on wove paper showing a Venetian scene with figures beneath an archway and gondolas on the water beyond, signed lower right Francisco or Francesco G, dated 1702 or 1802. Attributed by the original owner to Francesco Guardi. (Approx. 9 1/2" x 7 3/8".) All unframed. Provenance: Estate of Cayce Odom of Charlottesville, VA.
