Late colonial period warp ikat cotton shroud. Bold red, black and blue geometric designs. Rongkond, Central Celebes (Sulawesi) Indonesia. Acquired in 1980 by the original owner, who purchased it from Anita E. Spertus and Robert J. Holmgren, authors of "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures", published 1989 in conjunction with the exhibit "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC. Approx. 102" x 61".Provenance: Estate of Cayce Odom of Charlottesville, VA.
