Description
DALLAS INTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL BENEFIT - SIGNED BY MARK POLLOCK, AND JIMMY WALLACE (Signature guitars and the STRATOBLASTERS). Signed just before Mark passed away. Mark Pollock was a noted guitarist, shop owner, and guitar-show promoter, who passed away two months after this event - on November 13 2015 from respiratory failure after an extended battle with cancer. He was 64. Pollock acquired Charley’s Guitar Shop and the Dallas International Guitar Festival Dallas show after his close friend Charlie Wirz, who founded both, died in 1985. He eventually sold Charley’s and, in 2002, opened TransPecos Guitars, in Alpine. Pollock was co-creator and longtime host of the “Far Out West Texas Blues Show” on Texas public radio station KRTS, and was a key supporter of the blues-music scene who loved to share with listeners his knowledge of Texas blues. Beautifully matted and mounted with mounting tape on foam core. Ships flat. Ready to frame. Re: Jimmy Wallace - After high school, Wallace and his band Lynx toured in the ’70s with some of the hottest acts of the day, such as Styx and Kansas. While working for Arnold & Morgan, he was vexed by the lack of new models based on older styles of guitars. So he made a trip to the Gibson Guitar factory with a couple of his favorites in tow, a 1959 Les Paul and an ES-335. A Gibson designer used Wallace’s guitars as templates for a new model, and honored him with the Jimmy Wallace Les Paul, the Holy Grail for guitarists and he has performed with such legends as Todd Rundgren, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Cars, Phil Keaggy, Stephen Stills, Johnny Winter, Willie Nelson, Albert King, Gregg Allman, James Burton, and many more.
