Description
A Chinese black-ground embroidered woman's robe dating from the 19th century. It features many large flowers, fruit, and butterflies, which are rendered with the forbidden stitch. The body has borders decorated with blue flowers. The sleeves have white borders with embroidered children at play.
Dimensions are: 44 inches tall X 55 inches wide, 111.8 cm X 139.7 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is separation along the seams of the sleeves. There is damage to the armpits, as well as creasing, loose threads, and areas of repair throughout.
