1781 Imperial Austrian dinner plate with scalloped rim and Neoclassical ribbon-and-tie decoration, with Viennese cross-shield 13 loth (812 silver) and Ignaz Joseph Wurth makers marks. Dating to the reign of Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II (Archduchy of Austria, Habsburg Empire), from the Second Service made for his sister Maria Christina "Mimi", Duchess of Teschen (sister of Marie Antoinette, and daughter of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Francis I) and her husband Prince Albert Casimir of Saxony, Duke of Teschen, to replace the 1748 First Service, to mark their appointment as joint goverrnors of the Austrian Netherlands. Tax re-mark (repunze) to the top rim, engraved inventory no. 59 and scratch weight M.2.1.2.1 to the foot, the rim also bearing the coat of arms of Archduke Charles, adopted son and heir of the Duke and Duchess. 10"w and 17.31 ozt
