This painting has undergone some restoration. Various areas light up under black light (view photos for reference). Upon quick inspection of the back of painting, it seems evident that the painting was relined. The girl has three main areas of in-painting: her forehead, chest and dress just below her bust. The background shows signs of in-painting above the figure and to the proper left of sitter’s shoulder. The border of the canvas also shows signs of in-painting as various areas light up under black light. On the bottom of the painting, in the dress of the sitter, there is an approximately 2 inch scratch to canvas surface. The varnish is thick and does reflect quite a bit of light. Craquelure is also visible throughout painting.
