the first example with a silver and gold inlaid bronze handle, showing cranes and bamboo, the blade engraved with butterflies above blossoming flowers; the second example also with a silver and gold inlaid bronze handle decorated with cranes amongst flowers, the blade engraved with cranes in flight above flowering peonies; the third example with a bronze handle cranes in landscape, the blade decorated with birds above plants issuing from rockworks; the fourth example with a brass inlaid bronze handle with a dragon fish, the blade dragons above waves; the fifth example with a shakudo and brass inlaid bronze handle, the blade decorated with a squid and a fish; the sixth example with a bronze handle with an owl, the blade engraved with birds above lotus; the seventh a brass inlaid bronze handle decorated with turtles; the last example with a bronze handle, one side cast in the form of a lobster, the reverse with silver inlaid shells, the blade engraved with a bird on tree branches.Â
