Western Europe, Neoclassical Period, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful ring of wearable form featuring a slender, ovoid shank bearing incised leaves - perhaps maple leaves - atop each terminal. Within the ovoid bezel rests a hand-carved jasper cameo bearing the right-facing head of a man with a shaggy beard, perhaps a representation of the Roman god Jupiter (Greek Zeus). The man presents with a stern guise, a bulbous nose, protruding cheeks, and a slightly furrowed brow, all beneath a neatly kempt coiffure. Wearable as shown. Minor abrasions to shank and cameo, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina across shank and bezel. Shank ring sizing is difficult to measure given its ovoid form in relation to the underside of the bezel and cameo.
