An Italian Baroque polychrome decorated walnut cassone
17th century with later embellishments
height 27 1/4in (69cm); width 71in (180cm); depth 24in (61cm)
Provenance:
Property from a Private Hancock Park Collection.

Condition

Structurally sound. Later decorated and with associated tracery panels. Areas of touch up.
General marks, nicks, scratches, rubbing, wear, cracks and scattered losses. Scars to back from old hinges. Top with several age cracks. With scattered water and other stains. Front middle of lid with infill and vacant holes from previous hasp. Other areas of infill to lid. Batons to underside of lid probably replaced. Lockpin missing to lid interior. Scattered losses to plinth base.
