An opportunity to collect a dynamic artwork by one of the major figures in the contemporary street art movement – a limited edition screenprint titled Jaws Wave by Shepard Fairey (OBEY). Printed on cream speckle toned fine paper. Hand signed in pencil on the bottom right and annotated 426/500 on the bottom left. Created in 2009. Shepard created this image to help raise awareness and some funds for the Surfrider Foundation. The print that was featured in the foundation’s Art for the Oceans III Auction in Los Angeles. From the private collection of a curator and gallery owner from Los Angeles, who has a collection of artworks ranging from Barry McGee to Picasso. The print was purchased direct from Shepard Fairey's website and was immediately flat filed, never framed. Dimensions: 18.25h x 24.25w (unframed). In excellent condition. Shepard Fairey (1970- ) is an American contemporary artist, activist, and founder of OBEY Clothing who emerged from the skateboarding scene. In 1989 he designed the Andre the Giant Has a Posse sticker campaign while attending the Rhode Island School of Design. He designed the iconic 2008 Hope campaign for President Barack Obama. His art can be found in various museums including the Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the National Portrait Gallery in DC. Fairey’s art has sold for over six figures at auction.
