DESCRIPTION: An english George III mahogany and brass antique traveling desk writing slope box, with a hidden compartment. This is a fine mahogany writing slope in austere and simple form, with original heavy brass carrying handles, one acting also as the draw for a small drawer; this drawer is locked from within the box, opened by first unlocking and opening the writing box, then withdrawing a steel pin from the edge to release the small drawer. The interior is lined with a brown baize writing surface.
