Jeram Patel,India,1930-2016
Depicts abstracted forms of phallic nature over thinly drawn boarders. Patel was a pioneer of abstract art in India, studying at the Sir JJ School of Art in Mumbai. In the late 1950's, Patel travelled to Japan where he became enamored with the concept of burning wood. Patel has had frequent exhibitions in India and abroad and received many awards including the Lalit Kala Akademi national award in 1957, 1963, 1973, and 1984.
Ink on paper, 14" x 22".
Signed and dated "Jeram Patel 05" lower left corner.
