Description

William Staples Drown,Rhode Island, Massachusetts,1856-1915
Impressionist depiction of a small cottage beside a dirt road lined by trees with wonam walking in the distance. Drown studied under Appleton Brown in Boston and was primarily known as a marine and landscape painter. He was a member of the Providence Art Club and the Providence Watercolor Club.
Gouache on paper, 5 1/8" x 6 7/8".
Signed "William Staples Drown" lower left corner.
From the collection of a Cambridge, Massachusetts estate.

Condition

Loss to bottom left corner, tear to lower right corner, small tear to upper edge, toning especially around edges, losses to board painting was on, please refer to photographs.
