Joseph Casalane, Pennsylvania/Delaware artist, Impressionist watercolor, possibly New Hope, was purchased by consignor in New Hope,PA. Framed 6 3/8 x 7 3/8
Casalane had studied under Bayard Berndt (1908 - 1987), who'd studied under Frank Schoonover, N.C. Wyeth and Gayle Hoskins of the Wilmington and Brandywine School (s). Like his teacher, Berndt, Casalane also had a 'day job' in the arts, actually working as Art Director for Bell Telephone. He lived in Chester County, which was home to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) summer school where Daniel Garber taught. Casalane was actually Vice President of the Chester County Art Association, and at the time of his passing he lived in West Chester, PA. Casalane lived in that corner of PA that's not so far from Delaware, and being friends with his teacher Mr. Berndt, etc., also was active in the DE art scene exhibiting at the Ware Gallery, the Wilmington SFS, and other venues.
