The German Hunting Association was the official hunting society of Nazi Germany, led by Hermann Goring. Membership was mandatory for all persons with a hunting license. Offered here is a highly- detailed miniature cutlass with a 5.5 in. blade, 8 in. overall. The blade is etched on both sides with hunting motifs set between filigree patterns. Obverse of the blade is maker-marked 'Alcoso Solingen' on the ricasso, with original green buffer in place which is underneath the clamshell, itself bearing an image of two does and a stag in a forest glen. The cross-guard is engraved with oak leaves as is the ring above it. Grip appears to be stag horn, or a very close imitation. It is adorned with the silver logo of the organization, a deer head with radiant swastika. The scabbard is covered in black pebbled leather with metal fittings, the lower fitting depicting a stag full length. Leather scabbard bears a small chip to the leather on reverse, else very good.
