Description
Very rare 1936 Berlin Olympics official's visor cap, all cotton tricot in beige, a lightweight, very simple cap that was clearly manufactured for only limited use. The cap has a snap-on national eagle emblem at front, detachable so that the cap could be laundered. The chin cord is braided beige, secured at the sides by brass-covered studs (one brass stud cover lost). Within, the cap has a simple sweatband and side stiffener, and is unmarked. Moderately soiled and stained and in want of cleaning, otherwise in very good condition. As this example does not bear the stiffened visor and higher quality of upper-level administrators and officials, it was likely worn by an employee or staff member.
