Description
Daniel Vertangen (Dutch, 1598 - 1681/84), "The Judgement of Paris," oil on canvas, showing the moment when Paris chooses Aphrodite as the recipient of the golden apple over Athena and Hera. 22.5" H x 30" W; framed: 27" H x 34" W. Provenance: Stamp from "Mr. Chaplin's Picture Gallery / No 88 New Bond Street / Pictures Cleaned Lined and Restored / Frames Made to Order." Label stating that this painting was given to his son on April 24,1877, with both names illegible. Gallery label from Knoedler Modarco S.A. New York 19 East 70th Street.
