KOICHI OKADA (1907-?) was a Japanese landscape painter who worked with the publisher Unsodo on a series of woodblock prints of Japan during the late 1940s. Born in 1907 in Tokyo, Okada studied with Ishii Hakutei and Arishima Ikuma. His paintings were exhibited at Teiten and Nitten and he was a member of the art group Issuikai. Okada is known among collectors of Japanese prints for a series of six beautiful woodblocks depicting Japan's sacred mountain, Mount Fuji from varying perspectives. The series was published by Unsodo in the early 1950s. According to some sources on the Internet, Koichi Okada designed a total of 12 woodblocks of famous views of Japan, all published by Unsodo. However, to date we have only seen seven designs.
