"To the Defenders of American Independence, this print is most respectfully inscribed by their fellow citizens." SCARCE. American Revolutionary print showing British officers on the right, with Cornwallis presenting his sword, and French and American officers, center and left, with George Washington holding his hat in his left hand. The artist John Francis Renault had served as a secretary to the Comte de Grasse at Yorktown, and remained in America after the war. Washington, Lafayette, Hamilton, Cornwallis, and several others are identified in the key. American Battle Art, p. 29.
