Brilliant pink and orange with black geometric patterns hand painted on fine barkcloth 'Siga', men's feast day headdress. C. 1900-1910. Bada Toraja, Sulawesi, Indonesia. Approx. 54" x 44". Provenance: Estate of Cayce Odom of Charlottesville, VA. Acquired in the 1982 by Mr. Odom from Anita E. Spertus and Robert J. Holmgren, authors of "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures", published 1989 in conjunction with the exhibit "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC.
