IV.
Lyubov Sergeyevna Popova (Russian: Любовь Сергеевна Попова; April 24, 1889 - May 25, 1924) was a Russian avant-garde artist (Cubist, Suprematist, and Constructivist), painter, and designer.
Popova traveled extensively to research and learn about various styles of painting, but it was the ancient Russian icons, Giotto's paintings, and the works of 15th and 16th century Italian painters that interested her the most.

In 1914 she traveled to France and Italy in the development of Cubism and Futurism.
Popova was one of the first pioneering women in cubofuturism. Through a synthesis of styles, she worked towards what she called pictorial architectural. After exploring Impressionism for the first time, in 1913, in Composition with Figures, she was experimenting with the particularly Russian development of cubofuturism: a fusion of two equal influences from France and Italy.
