England, 19th century. Signed "D. Brucciani & Co London" numbered 2792.Large, glazed plaster head of Caesar raised on a stepped socle.Domenico Brucciani (1814-1880) was born in Italy and selling plaster casts from his London gallery by 1837. His firm worked with both the British Museum and South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria and Albert). 20" height, 10" width, 13" depth
Condition
Originally glazed to resemble white marble, now almost gone. Scattered minor abrasions.
