Description
The antique hand-made tin reliquary presented as a wall mount, the central vignette of a graduating backsplash features a colored lithograph of the Virgin Mary enclosed behind a screen, the top overhang with crucifix, the bottom portion dispensed as a simulated shelf with suspended crucifix / tag drops, backed with a wooden block support, the crucifix decorations studded with clusters of small turquoise chips; the back marked with hand written provenance "tin came from Santuario de Chimayó (Chimayó, New Mexico), 1922", also the small tag at rear marked "holy dirt room - Santuario - Bobby G". Condition; item shows natural age wear including rusting / oxidization to tin, age grime, imperfections conveying true vintage character and folk art nature. Approx. 9.5" W x 13" H x 3.5" D.
