This is a reproduction of the work of artist Clarice Cliff's "Bizarre" collection created for the Museum of Modern Art in 1993. This is a Clarice Cliff vintage reproduction of her ceramic sugar bowl with lid (or jam jar). There are no known chips or cracks on this piece. It is stamped on the bottom MMA C 1993. The measurements are 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" and it weighs 0.39lb. Clarice Cliff is, today, regarded as one of the most influential ceramics artists of the 20th Century, and her work is collected, valued, and admired the world over. She was born on January 20th, 1899 in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, and started work at the age of 13 in 'The Potteries'. Clarice moved to AJ Wilkinson's pottery factory in 1916. She was ambitious and her skills were recognized so that eventually she was given her own studio. It was here that she started creating her own patterns and the famous 'Bizarre' wares were launched in 1927.
