Description
This is an amazing basket that is over 150 years old. It is a double swing handles. Hand woven with flip top and hand made latch of same material. Comes with provenance that includes the previous owner's name and the year of 1867 when she put it to use. Measures approx 14" x 15" tall (with handle, 10" tall without handle)
Mary M. Monroe (1841-1910) Married Andrew Jackson Boyd (1819-1898) on Nov. 2, 1864. Note Emilie Harrison, who I was unable to locate, stated "about 1867" so 1864 is not far off.
