Catalog Note:
This rare and meticulously crafted humidor was included in Tiffany Studios' elite line of "Fancy Goods". The output of the items in this category was limited and only produced for a short period of time. This humidor is believed to have been carved from a single piece of wood, likely by Joseph Briggs. It was first offered through Tiffany & Co. and was listed in the firm's Blue Books from 1906 to 1912. This example is the only version we have seen where the scarab on the body of the box has cast bronze legs.

All glass elements without chips, cracks or repairs apparent. Each scarab has manufacture lines to the body. Original patina to bronze elements with some minor wear. Original finish to wood with some very minor tight age splits in areas, as expected. Circular impressed mark at center of underside. There is an old sticker that indicates that there is a signature on the outer edge, which may possibly just be scratches that appear to be letters and are not discernible.
