Description
1870 1ed Life in Utah MORMON Polygamy INDIANS Beadle Map Salt Lake LDS Mormonism
John H Beadle was a member of the Mormon expedition across the United States to the American West. He made notes and reports on the excursion and ultimately published a fascinating work on every aspect of the trip. Beadle includes a full-account of the Mountain Meadow Massacre, countering Native Americans, descriptions of terrain, and much more. His book Life in Utah has become one of the most prominent anti-Mormon books from the 19th-century. According to the publishers remarks,
“For more than thirty years the world has been horrified, startled and perplexed by the audacity and success of a sect calling themselves Mormons. Though founded in fraud, this sect has succeeded in spite of all opposition, until it is to-day the standing reproach of our country.”
