Japanese hand painted porcelain planter in the form of a cloth bag, Meiji period or earlier. An off-white porcelain basket in the form of a cloth bag with a tied handle. An opening to one side, reticulated decoration to the other. Hand painted images of drums, biwa, and other instruments to the body as well as an elderly face resting on a pile of clothing. Gilt accents to the decoration.

Condition
3 hairlines to the front opening. Areas of crazing, minor chip to the underside edge. Firing flaws to the base of the handles as made. Please refer to photos.
