Giuseppe Gambogi (Italian late 19th C. to early 20th C.), a carved and parcel gilt decorated alabaster figure with incorporated light, signed at base near figure's back foot, 'Prof. G. Gambogi, Italy' and also at the skirt hem 'G. Gambogi', a standing figure of a young woman who holds an urn (which contains the lamp) above her head, she is garbed in romanticized Egyptian/Oriental dress with parcel gilt head and arm bands, earrings and a two-strand necklace, her cream-colored nude upper torso is above a polychrome flowing skirt with a gilt sash and buckle, bronze foliate form mounts are the handles on the urn, the urn has notable cracks, repair to arm, detached finger, the figure stands on a rough rock surface that rests on a rust oblong plinth all of which are presented on an associated pedestal of black marble with green variegation, figure 51" h. x 13" w. x 16"d., pedestal 28" h. x 17" w. x 16" d.
