1st Edition of "The Qur’ân", Two Volumes, 1880
"The Qur’ân" Translated by Edward H. Palmer. Oxford, Clarendon Press, 1880. First edition. Two vols, Octavo, cxviii, 268pp (Chapters I-XVI); x, 362pp including an index (Chapters XVII-CXIV). Edited by F. Max Müller. Brown leather binding with marbled endpapers. Gilt lettering at the spine with five raised bands. Red page edges. Both volumes have a previous owner's bookplate adhered to the front pastedown, as well as a signature from another owner on a front free endpaper, dated September 1961. The covers are scratched and rubbed, with wear and bumping to corners and edges. Light toning to the internal page edges. Sound binding - a very attractive set.
