By descent in the family to the present consignor.
Note
Charlotte DeWolf was born in 1791 in Wolfville, Kings County, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Jehiel DeWolf, Jr. (1755-1825) and Anna (Witter) DeWolf (1764-1803). She married Samuel Brower (1786-1830), c. 1816, and settled in New York. She remarried following his death, to James Vanderpool (1776-1842), c. 1835, and apparently relocated to New Jersey. She died in 1870 in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
The DeWolfs came from a long line of French Huguenot settlers in Nova Scotia.
