Carved from a single specimen of ruby-in-zoisite, the ruby portions used to depict the mother owl and her owlets, the green zoisite portions depicting the textured tree trunk in which they are housed. Raised on a polished black onyx base. Measuring 9 x 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 in

Following a second-generation family tradition in the fabrication of objets d'art, Luis' studio specializes in the carving of ruby. The second hardest stone after diamond, few artists have managed to successfully work this mineral since it requires a very advanced technique for carving and polishing. His works are displayed in museums in the United States and Europe and are enjoyed by private collectors around the world.
