Description
Vintage Folk Art hooked rug runner. Said to have been made for, and perhaps designed by Arthur Meltzer, noted Bucks County, Pennsylvania artist for his home Juniper Hill. Recently one of his paintings sold for over $ 300,000, a record for this artist. The colors are sophisticated and lovely together, and the pattern combines a small floral with strong geometrics. The entire rug, runner-length to some, is shown in two photos, with the lower portion hooked with his name and the location. Unique. Measures 2' 8" x 8' 8". c1940s, wool on burlap. In very good condition. This item was part of Laura Fisher's estate. Laura Fisher was a New York based world renowned quilt expert, dealer and author, and in offering these textiles for sale we hope to honor her legacy of style and scholarship.
