Nancy Pawel (1928-2021), Purple compote with handles. glazed ceramic. size: 7 x 12 x 8".

Provenance: A San Antonio, Texas collection

Nancy Pawel started art classes at the McNay Art Institute where she became fascinated with glazes for stoneware and porcelain creations. In 1969, she started teaching ceramics at the University of the Incarnate Word (San Antonio, Texas). For 32 years Nancy's basement Pot Shop was a special place where she mentored students of all ages. Nancy is known for her collectible castles, ladies, celadon bowls as well as her public commissions which could be viewed at the San Antonio Botanical Center, Hilton Palacio del Rio, Saint Mary's Hall, Kelly Air Force Base, and the Natatorium at UIW.
