Description
This wonderful campaign flag measuring roughly 21” x 24” was produced by D&C of New York in 1919 for Theodore Roosevelt’s “Progressive Party” campaign against incumbent President Howard Taft. Frustrated that he did not win the Republican nomination for the Presidency in 1912, Roosevelt founded the Progressive (aka “Bull Moose”) party in order to challenge the Republican Taft. Both would ultimately lose to Democrat Woodrow Wilson. The bold red textile flag features a printed portrait of Theodore Roosevelt at the center, surrounded by the text “Progressive/Roosevelt 1912 Battle Flag”, with the initials “D & C” (the maker) at the lower left.
Some light soiling and tears, suitable for display.
