100 B.C.-250 A.D. A Colima culture terracotta vessel formed in the round as a stylised dog standing on conical legs, head modelled with large, oval-shaped eyes, recessed mouth and triangular ears, lentoid-section body with central hump emerging from the back, tail formed as a broad-mouthed opening. Cf. The British Museum, museum number Am1921,0613.1, for similar dated 300 B.C.-300 A.D. 930 grams, 14 cm high (5 1/2 in.) From Colima. From an old Spanish collection. Acquired from Antiquarius antiquities, Nottingham, UK, 1996. Richard Cotterill collection, Nottinghamshire, UK, collection number 3000.130.96. Mellors and Kirk, Nottingham, UK, 2011.
