Magna Graecia, South Italic colonies, Apulia, ca. 4th century BCE. An attractive ensemble of 3 redware miniatures: 2 pottery vessels & 1 terracotta whorl. Sitting upon a round yet stable base, the first vessel displays a wide hip, a carinated shoulder, a corseted neck, and a flared rim. Alternatively, the other jar presents a spherical body and an inward-curving mouth flanked by a pair of high-arching, tubular handles, all sitting upon a ring-form foot. Last, the whorl exhibits a flat bottom and a thick, arched handle. Size of largest (whorl): 2.6" L x 1.5" W x 2.2" H (6.6 cm x 3.8 cm x 5.6 cm)
Provenance: private C.Q. collection, Lexington, Virginia, USA, acquired October 21, 2013; ex-Artemis Gallery, Louisville, Colorado, USA; ex-Dr. Tsatsos collection, Chicago, Illinois, USA, acquired circa 2000

Condition
All have expected surface wear with nicks and abrasions commensurate with age, as shown. Areas of fire-darkening to round-bottomed vessel. Otherwise, all are intact and excellent with nice earthen deposits.
