Description
This is an original cold painted polychrome bronze sculpture by artist Harry Jackson (American, 1924-2011). Jackson began his career as a Marine combat artist, then later worked in the abstract expressionist, realist, and American western styles.
Titled Pony Express III, this Old West sculpture features a rider on horseback with his weapon drawn and aimed. It was made using the lost wax method in the artist's private studio-foundry, the Wyoming Foundry Studios, in Camaiore, Italy. The sculpture rests on a black marble plinth. It is hand signed and dated 1978 (when the polychrome was applied) with paint as well as signed in the bronze and dated 1977. It is also impressed with the artist's thumbprint. Numbered 35P out of an edition of 350.
