Early 1980s Sire and Geffen Records award for Madonna singles "Like A Virgin" "Into The Groove" (extended mix) and "Crazy For You". These three tracks were Madonna's first three RIAA Gold singles, being certified on Jan 10, July 16 and July 30, 1985 respectively. (Note: This is not a RIAA award)

The tracks all lit up the charts worldwide and also helped ignite Madonna's career with "Like A Virgin" and "Crazy For You" from the 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan (in which Madonna also starred) becoming her first two #1's on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. "Crazy For You" was on the film soundtrack for 1984's Vision Quest and Geffen Records had the contract to do the soundtrack for the film, which is why it was released by Geffen and not Madonna's label at the time Sire Records.

Detailed Item Description: This combo Sire and Geffen Records award would have been made in 1985 based on the Gold certification of the singles, making it 23 years old. It is presented to Mike Smith, who was a label executive mostly associated with Atlantic Records in his later career.

The award is in VG condition with only minor scratches and mars on the plexiglass and frame.  It is unclear what company made the award since there is no manufacturer's sticker. 

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
