Description
Two patriotic 19th century collectibles. The first a Staffordshire porcelain match safe with striker depicting a seated Lady Liberty holding a 13 star American flag and a bouquet of flowers, the flag embossed "For The Union" - probably centennial circa 1876 - minor paint wear and overall very good condition - 3 1/4"W x 4 3/4"H; and the second, a late 19th century bridle ornament, reverse painted under domed glass depicting an American spread wing eagle holding an American flag in talons - converted to broach, otherwise very good condition. Provenance: From the Doris and Jerry Soldner collection, Lake Carmel NY (formally of Kingston NY).
