Elena Vladimirovna Semenova, Russian Soviet, 1898 to 1986, watercolor painting on cardboard, 1943, illustration to a novel Stalingrad by Theodor Plievier, 1892 to 1955. Signed with initials and dated lower left. A plate showing detailed information about the artwork lower right. Theodor Otto Richard Plivier is a German writer, author of a trilogy about World War II, including the novels Stalingrad, Moscow, and Berlin. Elena Semenova was a well known Russian and Soviet Avant Garde Constructivist graphic artist and designer. She studied at Vkhutemas. Semenova was associated with LEF, Vladimir Mayakovsky, and the constructivist circle of Aleksander Rodchenko. One of a kind artwork.
