Description
"Bay of Antibes (December) 1921." Oil on canvas. Signed and dated lower left and verso on stretcher. 12 x 16 inches; 15 3/4 x 19 3/4 inches (overall). Framed. Note: Claude Monet's,"Bay of Antibes, (1888)” has a similar vantage, with the Chateau Grimaldi (now the Musee Picasso) as a focal point. (Flagg completed the painting when American Impressionism continued to be popular and the appetite for European scenes, and in particular French subject matter, was sought after.)
Condition
Frame is in poor condition. Craquelure and some ares of loss to sky. A few scattered spots of loss. Vertical dark drip mark over the Chateau. (Please note, this is not a full condition report.
