Pair of Continental Whimsical Carved and Polychromed Sconces

second quarter 20th century, the two-light parcel-gilt sconces decorated with carved and polychromed laughing monks on scrolled giltwood backplates, their hands grasping giltwood torches set with carved candle cups and drip pans.
h. 15-1/2", w. 16", d. 10-1/2"

Condition

Both are in overall good condition. Some scattered flakes to the painted surfaces from age. There is a small chip to the tip of the hood on one. They are completely carved of wood. Very detailed. An amusing pair of sconces. Electrified.
