Description
A large Japanese (Meiji period 1868-1912) bronze sculpture of a little boy with play hoop. His left hand is raised to his mouth and his facial expression shows signs of deep thinking. Sculpture is mouthed on a narrow painted metal plinth. Cast signature can be visible on the front of the terrace. Just a gorgeous piece of a young child in traditional clothes all-round, with very nice dark brown patinated bronze and great attention to detail. Measures: 24 - 1/2"T x 10 - 1/2"D. Condition: overall good vintage with commensurate age related wear, some very minor patina oxidation spots might be found; plinth is slightly loose from the bronze, and the paint is chipping; bronze itself showing accumulation of dust and needs slight cleaning. Otherwise this piece is an a great example of Japanese culture and displays beautifully!. Dates: Late 19th Century. Limited Edition: N/A. Paperwork: No. Signature: On the base, Illegible. Condition: Dimensions: 24 - 1/2"T x 10 - 1/2"D.
