Description
North Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 20th to early 21st century CE. A beautiful bowl of shallow form that is lathe-turned from finely grained koa wood boasting coffee, burnt umber, and russet veining within the caramel-hued matrix. The bowl presents with an annular foot, a planar basin surface, gradually swelling walls, and a petite, flared rim. The foot is signed with "Koa Maui" on the bottom to indicate the wood type and region of origin. Size: 8.375" Diameter x 2" H (21.3 cm x 5.1 cm)

Condition
Stabilization to one hairline fissure along rim and walls, with light adhesive residue along fissure. Otherwise, excellent with great luster and surface smoothness. Signed "Koa Maui" on bottom of foot. Old inventory label beneath basin.
