Richard Jolley (American, b.1952), Translucent Substance #7
2005, large pipe formed and sculpted glass sculpture fused together as one piece, consisting of a central male figure in amber and light green tones divided by two green oval shelves, the top shelf with a tree representing the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, the lower shelf with blue figures representing Adam and Eve with a dark red hollow fruit, the central figure standing on a green disc over raised mosaic tiles and frosted glass feet, etched signature and date to the green disc.

Richard Jolley is an internationally recognized glass artist now based in Knoxville, Tennessee. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions mounted at the Mint Museum of Art, Charlotte, North Carolina; Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Montgomery, Alabama; Morris Museum of Art, Augusta, Georgia; Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, Louisiana; and Knoxville Museum of Art, Knoxville, Tennessee.
