Christie's; Pair of Chinese 19th Century Famille Rose Enameled Porcelain Moon Vases with gilt descending Bat Handles to shoulders, the front medallions with Entertaining at Mandarin Court, the reverse with a large bouquet of flowers with butterflies and insects; the sides with b rocade patterns and auspicious objects. Height 16 inches (40.5 cm.). PROVENANCE: From the Family of Kung Xiangxi (Dr H H Kung 1881-1967 - Premier, Republic of China 1938-39, Vice-Premier, ROC 1939-45, husband of Soong Ai-ling, 75th generation descendant of Confucius); sold Christie's New York, 15 December 2015, Lot 420 and both with printed hang-tags.
Condition
Light age related wear to enamels and gold painting; one vase with short hairline with light over-painting to mouth and part of neck.
