H. Sommer in ink on the front endpaper Produced in September 1969 as a gift on the occasion of the Monsanto Company’s board of directors trip to Europe. In the salutatory note Chairman C. H. Sommer refers to a seisometer used on the moon, whose plutonium-238 heating device had been developed and manufactured by Monsanto. Through this involvement in the Apollo 11 mission Monsanto also had access to NASA’s pictorial material; the ten color images were made directly from first-generation inter-negatives, shortly after the astronauts’ return. Produziert im September 1969 als Gastgeschenk der Direktorengruppe der Firma Monsanto bei einem Europabesuch. In der Grußnote am ersten Blatt der Mappe verweist Vorstandsvorsitzender C. H. Sommer auf einen am Mond eingesetzten Seisometer, dessen Plutonium-238-Heizung von Monsanto entwickelt und hergestellt worden war. Durch diese Einbindung in die Apollo 11 Mission hatte Monsanto auch Zugang zum Bildmaterial der NASA; die zehn Farbbilder wurden kurz nach der Rückkehr der Astronauten von Inter-Negativen produziert.
